Problem with making a DVD with working subtitles from an AVI and a SRT file? Check this out.

Before you start, you need to download VSO DivxToDVD. This is not a freeware program, but those who want it, often know their way around. When you've installed this, open it and add your desired AVI file. If you don't already have a SRT (subtitle file) in the same folder as the AVI file with the same name (except the .srt/.avi part), select Subtitles (0 streams) and right click to Add Subtitle Channel. Find the .srt file and add it. If you don't have a subtitle file, you could try down eXTratitles.to.
If you have a .sub file instead of a .srt, you could convert it using the freeware solution Subtitle Workshop. Just open the .sub file, and Save as SubRip. This should make it a .srt file which you could add in DivxToDVD.
